Monica Safin Fedak was born in northern Michigan where she has resided the majority of her life. Since childhood, she has had a passion for reading, writing, and storytelling. Much of the inspiration for her writing comes from experiences growing up in northern Michigan.
She holds a B.A. in psychology from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in occupational therapy from Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. Prior to exploring a career in writing and illustrating children’s books, Monica worked as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings, with school and pediatric-based therapy amongst her areas of greatest interest and experience.
With her dynamic background, Monica has a passion for sharing ideas and information that promote mental and physical well-being. Her first book, The Whispering Tree, was inspired by her own two children’s curiosity for the natural world and aims to encourage children to explore the outdoors and all that nature has to offer.
She recently completed her second picture book, The Legend of the Morchella, and is the author of a family-focused, occupational therapy-inspired blog, www.otmomsays.com
